These days you have asked us why you can not walk by the usual route of the Camino de Santiago from Monte do Gozo at the entrance to the city of Santiago de Compostela.

We have read barbarities that the Concello shows little sensitivity, that is increased by 4 kilometers plus the distance of the stage, which causes losses of pilgrims and so much more. Well, we inform that the works do not have to do with the Concello and if with the Ministry of Public Works and that it is necessary works, they are not caprice.

The detour from the chapel and the monument of Monte del Gozo is perfectly marked, perfectly and gives no option to neglect or loss, allowing many pilgrims to know the sculptures of the pilgrims greeting the towers of the Cathedral of Santiago as well as passing by the rehabilitated area where the free pools of Monte do Gozo are.

The works are expected to be completed by the end of this year and will only be during these months that we must adapt to this change. The previous route marked a distance of 4.9 km from the Monument of Monte do Gozo and the new route increases by 1.4 km and leaves the route at 6.3 km.

We have made two screenshots of Google Maps to help you understand the change of route and be clear where you should go. As horizontal images we recommend that you place the mobile in horizontal and that is why we have put them at the end of the post, hehe, so you do not have to be moving too much the mobile.

By the way, if after passing underneath the SC-20 you continue in front you will save a few meters but we recommend turn right to approach to the garden of the Palace of Congresses and that you can take the photo in one of the typical welcome city posters and then continue along the usual route.

We hope we have been of help and if you need to know more, do not hesitate to contact us at info@wayandgocompostela.com
